Modalities for Chronic Pain Management:

Individual therapy – Each patient will meet weekly with the Licensed Professional Counselor who monitors daily progress and reinforces the goal of physical and psychological restoration.

Assessments – A competent therapist will assess each patient’s chronic pain and mental health.  Symptoms and progress are followed very closely and communication with referring physicians will be maintained.

Medication Management – The Psychiatrist will assist in the treatment of depression and anxious traits with psychotropic medication.  You may also receive medication to decrease pain levels and assist you in tapering off of the narcotic medication.

Group Therapy – Group and family therapy deal with social interactions, employment, and disability versus wellness, with an emphasis on function not pain.

Art Therapy – This therapy is helpful in providing a method of expression when words fail to express the scope and intensity of the patient’s experience.

Case Management – We will review any additional assessments or evaluations conducted during your treatment, review your progress, and change the treatment plan as needed.

Biofeedback – Electromyography biofeedback is used to regulate muscle tension.  Reduction of muscle tension correlates well with reduction of pain.

Physical Conditioning – this movement therapy will improve the patient’s functional status and quality of life.  Exercises are an essential part of helping the patient with symptomatic pain relief of muscle spasms.  It strengthens muscle and increases endurance and joint mobility.  Physical conditioning aids in postural reeducation.

Massage therapy – This treatment helps to break up any lactic acid and scar tissue buildup.  It will help alleviate any existing pain in the injured area and decrease inflammation.  Massage therapy increased the production of natural endorphins and diminishes painful trigger points.

Vocational Therapy – This modality is designed to assist injured workers to adapt and identify a new occupation after injury that is within their physical and mental limitations.  A target goal is to help you adjust to your limitations.
